Ok, the most obvious method to weight loss/maintenance etc is dieting.

HOW you diet is a factor. (eating 2 times a day, but its fast food is kind of bad)
Eating fruits/vegetables/complex carbs throughout the day (AS IN 4-5 times a day) not large meals but SMALL meals and snacking counts as a meal.
Eat however you want, but it MUST BE: Natural, Non-Processed (aka fruits as opposed to french fries), Wholegrains, Fiberous.

Think about it... During the history of mankind, we have never eaten chips and 1minute mashed potatoes up until now. People through out history have eaten fruits, meat, and GOT EXERCISE!!!!! (walking from town to town or doing chores was a hell of a lot more work back then, than nowadays).
